JPG or PNG: which format should you choose?

If you are not sure, use JPG at 92% quality and 200 DPI for general documents. Choose PNG when the page contains diagrams, UI screenshots or fine text that you want to keep lossless.
Resolution control from 96 to 300 DPI
A PDF page is resolution-independent, so the converter can render it at different image sizes. Higher DPI produces more pixels and preserves smaller details, but also increases conversion time, memory use and download size. The 200 DPI option is the default because it gives a strong balance for normal documents. A 300 DPI export is more suitable when the resulting image may be printed, enlarged or inspected closely.
Convert only the PDF pages you need
You do not have to export every page. Select Custom page range and enter combinations such as 1-3,5,8-10. The converter validates page numbers against the loaded PDF and ignores duplicate selections. This is useful when a long report contains only a few pages that need to become images.
Password-protected PDFs
If the PDF requires an open password and you know it, expand Advanced options and enter the password. The browser uses it to unlock the PDF locally for rendering. UVs Tool Hub does not bypass document security and cannot convert a protected document without the correct password.
How to convert PDF to JPG or PNG
- Choose or drag a PDF into the workspace.
- Select JPG or PNG as the image format.
- Choose a resolution from 96, 150, 200 or 300 DPI.
- Use All pages or enter a custom page range.
- For JPG, adjust image quality. For PNG, choose a white or transparent background where the PDF allows it.
- Click Convert PDF Pages.
- Download individual images or use Download all as ZIP for multiple pages.
Privacy and browser processing
The source PDF is read by PDF.js in your browser and each selected page is drawn to a local canvas before being encoded as JPG or PNG. The tool does not need a document-conversion API. Files are not intentionally uploaded to UVs Tool Hub for this conversion. As with any browser tool, avoid closing or reloading the tab until a large conversion finishes.
What this converter does not change
The tool creates images of PDF pages. It does not perform OCR, edit PDF text, remove passwords, repair damaged PDFs or preserve selectable text inside the JPG/PNG result. If you need editable text, use PDF to Word. If you need to reorder or remove pages before exporting, use the PDF Page Editor first.

Why can a 300 DPI conversion use a lot of memory?
Higher DPI creates a much larger pixel canvas for each page. The tool processes pages sequentially and checks for unsafe canvas sizes, but very large PDF pages can still require a lower DPI for browser stability.
